Nail Glue

9 produits

Nail glue is the adhesive method that delivers the longest, most secure wear for press-on nails.

Applied correctly with a properly prepped nail plate, nail glue bonds soft gel and XCOATPRESS press-ons for up to two weeks — longer than any adhesive tab can achieve.

BTArtBoxNails nail glue is formulated specifically for use with soft gel press-ons: thin enough to spread evenly without excess, strong enough to hold through daily activity, and clean enough to remove without damaging the natural nail when the time comes.

Every BTArtBoxNails kit includes nail glue as standard. It is the same formula across all sets — tested specifically for use with soft gel and XCOATPRESS press-ons to deliver consistent bond strength and a clean removal.

Nail Glue vs. Adhesive Tabs

Both methods work. The difference is wear time and hold strength. Nail glue bonds directly to the natural nail surface and creates a rigid, waterproof connection. Adhesive tabs sit between the two surfaces and allow for some movement — easier to remove but they lift sooner.

Nail Glue
  • Up to 2 weeks wear
  • Waterproof bond
  • Best for active daily wear
  • Requires acetone for clean removal
  • Stronger hold at sidewalls and tip
Adhesive Tabs
  • 5 – 7 days wear
  • Not fully waterproof
  • Best for short-term or occasional wear
  • Removes with warm soapy water
  • Gentler on natural nails between sets

If you are wearing press-ons daily and need them to hold through hand washing, dishes, and exercise, nail glue is the correct choice. If you are wearing a set for a single event or weekend and want to remove cleanly the same day, adhesive tabs are the better fit.

How to Use Nail Glue Correctly

The most common reason nail glue fails early is application error rather than adhesive quality. Too much glue, insufficient prep, or water contact too soon after application all reduce bond strength significantly.

  1. Prep the nail plate. Remove all polish, buff lightly to remove surface shine, and wipe with the alcohol prep pad. Allow 30 seconds to dry fully before continuing.
  2. Size every nail first. Match all ten press-ons to the correct finger before applying any glue. Repositioning after glue contact weakens the bond immediately.
  3. Apply a thin layer to both surfaces. One thin coat on the natural nail, one on the underside of the press-on. Thin layers create stronger bonds than thick ones.
  4. Align at the cuticle and press firmly. Start at the cuticle edge and roll forward onto the nail bed. Hold each nail for 20–30 seconds with firm, even pressure.
  5. Avoid water for one hour. The adhesive continues to cure after initial application. Water contact in the first hour is the leading cause of early edge lifting.

How Long Does Nail Glue Last?

With nail glue1 – 2 weeks
With adhesive tabs5 – 7 days
Water-free first hourCritical

Wear time depends on prep quality more than glue quantity. A well-prepped, dehydrated nail with a thin, even glue application will consistently outlast a thick application on an unprepped nail. For a full guide on maximising wear, read how to make press-on nails last 2 weeks.

How to Remove Press-On Nails Applied with Nail Glue

  • Soak a cotton pad in acetone or acetone-based remover and hold against the nail edge for 60–90 seconds to soften the bond.
  • Alternatively, soak fingertips in warm soapy water for 5–10 minutes to loosen the adhesive before removal.
  • Use a cuticle pusher from the base — never pry from the tip. Prying from the tip is the primary cause of natural nail damage.
  • Apply cuticle oil after removal and allow at least 24 hours before applying a new set.

What's Included in Every BTArtBoxNails Kit

Every BTArtBoxNails press-on kit includes everything needed for a full application — no additional purchases required for first use.

Nail GluePre-measured adhesive tube formulated for soft gel and XCOATPRESS press-ons. Sufficient for a full set application with careful use.
Adhesive TabsIncluded as an alternative to nail glue for shorter-term wear or sensitive nails. Suitable for 5–7 days of clean, residue-free wear.
Prep PadAlcohol prep pad for nail dehydration before application. Removes oils and residue that reduce bond strength.
Nail FileFor shaping and sizing adjustments before or after application. Use before applying glue — never file after the press-on is bonded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own nail glue with BTArtBoxNails press-ons?

Yes. Any cyanoacrylate-based nail glue is compatible with soft gel and XCOATPRESS press-ons. The glue included in every kit is sufficient for a full set, but third-party nail glues work equally well provided the nail plate is correctly prepped beforehand.

Will nail glue damage my natural nails?

Nail glue does not damage the natural nail when applied and removed correctly. Damage occurs when press-ons are pried off without softening the adhesive first. Always use acetone or warm soapy water to loosen the bond before removal. The natural nail surface should never feel rough or thin after a correct removal process.

How much nail glue should I use per nail?

Less than you think. A thin, even layer covering the nail plate surface is sufficient. Excess glue squeezes out at the sidewalls and cuticle edge, creates uneven bonding, and makes removal harder. If glue is visible around the edges after pressing down, you have used too much.

My press-ons keep lifting at the edges — is it the glue?

Edge lifting is almost always a prep issue rather than an adhesive quality issue. The three most common causes are: nail plate not fully dehydrated before application, press-on sized slightly too wide and touching the sidewall, or water contact within the first hour. Work through those three checks before assuming the glue is the problem.

Can I reuse press-on nails applied with nail glue?

Yes, with care. Remove press-ons gently using the soak method rather than prying. Clean residual glue from the underside using acetone on a cotton bud before reapplying. Reused press-ons may have slightly reduced wear time on the second application but remain fully functional for a second wear.
